ORCHESTRA study @ Medical Informatics Europe Conference: Privacy-Preserving Workflow for the Cross-Border Federated Analysis of Clinical Data

ORCHESTRA study @ Medical Informatics Europe Conference: Privacy-Preserving Workflow for the Cross-Border Federated Analysis of Clinical Data

09.09.2024

At this year’s Medical Informatics Europe Conference (MIE 2024), the paper “Privacy-Preserving Workflow for the Cross-Border Federated Analysis of Clinical Data” from our ORCHESTRA partners was accepted as a full paper. Miroslav Puškarić presented the research, highlighting a privacy-preserving data analysis workflow that ensures sensitive patient information remains secure while enabling valuable cross-border research. 💡

The workflow was built using open-source research software, where patient-level information is securely stored and never exposed during the analysis process. Utilizing clinical datasets from the ORCHESTRA project, the workflow was validated against two data analysis scenarios. The authors demonstrated the viability of establishing a cross-border federated data analysis framework and conducted an analysis without exposing patient-level information, achieving results equivalent to centralized non-secure analysis.
