The Centre de Recherches Médicales de Lambaréné (CERMEL)is located in the city of Lambaréné, Gabon. Since its foundation in 1981, CERMEL has become one of the leading research institutions for tropical medicine in Sub-Saharan Africa. CERMEL has extended its capacities through internationally funded research programs. CERMEL is an international medical research hub with more than 200 international staff. Main funding sources are the European Union, European Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, National Institute for Health, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and more recently the German Center for Infection Research.CERMEL receives substantial support from the Gabonese government as attested by the recent donation of its newly built campus with modern infrastructures. The Biomedicine and social sciences research group at CERMEL is led by Dr AGNANDJI Selidji Todagbe. The group has an extensive experience in running field studies and clinical trials.
