ISGlobal is a cutting-edge institution with capacity to address global public health challenges through research, translation and education. ISGlobal has a broad research portfolio in communicable and noncommunicable diseases, with a special focus on low- and middle- income countries. ISGlobal’s approach includes generating new cutting-edge and operational research as well as developing large translational efforts to maximize its impact. In addition to the public health, the epidemiology, and the clinical disciplines, ISGlobal has been accumulating remarkable experience in health economics applied to poverty related diseases in low- and middle-income countries. The health economics team, led by Elisa Sicuri, is an emerging group of economists with global collaborations with public health, epidemiology and clinical scientists; the team has obtained remarkable research achievements both in terms of publications and of competitive projects, establishing as global leaders in the economics of infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries.
